In my mentoring role with young mothers for a local non-profit, I noticed a need for parenting helps. I designed this course from material in my graduate courses on creativity to help the young women I worked with.
I sifted through my research, course notes and texts to establish a framework. Then I consulted with my targeted users to narrow down the topics to be covered using a Miro board.
The course divided into three main topics. Different instructional patterns were developed for each segment with separate Miro storyboards for each.
The minimalist style guide was developed to decrease cognitive load.
All graphic elements were edited in PowerPoint.
Learning is enhanced through a story scenario: a family struggling to engage their listless children.
A mentor figure guides the learner throughout the course.
The animated scenario scenes were carefully timed to compliment background music, edited with Audacity,
The course was designed for three child age groups using variables and triggers.
Learners can re-navigate the course to learn parenting skills for each of their children.
A name variable was added to personalize and clarify.
